Court solidarity protest: Drop the Herzog protest charges

Downing Centre Local & District Court Sydney CBD

Stop the police cover-up

Stop the War on Palestine will rally at 8.30am, Friday October 30, outside Downing Centre Court, to demand the charges against the 18 remaining Herzog protesters be dropped. The protest will also demand NSW Police and Chris Minns’s government end the attempted cover-up of their actions by releasing release all documents, communications and records requested by the defence. The court will be dealing with these matters on the 30th.

Chris Minns’ draconian anti-protest laws were struck down in April. NSW Police have now been forced to drop many of the 30 charges initially laid. Yet, disgracefully, 18 people still face charges in relation to the violent, anti-democratic and unconstitutional police operation unleashed by the Premier on February 9.

The charges must be dropped and there must be justice for those who have suffered reputational damage, restrictive bail conditions and hardship as a result of these bogus charges and for those harmed in police attacks. All the remaining anti-protest laws must be withdrawn.

Recently released footage of police relishing brutal violence against protestors is an indictment against the Premier and NSW Police. Police have attempted to conceal the extent of their crimes and avoid accountability by preventing public Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) hearings. They are desperately resisting the release of further relevant documents, communications and records requested by the defence for the same reason.

We demand full transparency and cooperation from NSW Police and all government agencies, officials and Ministers with the LECC and the courts. Stop trying to obstruct the work of the LECC and of the courts.

The thousands who protested against the genocidal Israeli President Isaac Herzog on February 9 stood on the right side of history. Israel’s genocidal onslaught against the Palestinians in Gaza has now killed at least 74,480 people, with at least 1,522 slaughtered since the so-called “ceasefire” in October 2025. Land seizures and settler and IDF attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank have reached catastrophic levels.
